V,

You're exactly right. We were overwhelmed with all the places to eat in the area. Make sure you don't fall into one of the [open a can-warm it-serve it] places.

Agreed, the Old Mill Cafe is great. We got a lot of good information of a cool little site called http://www.theofficialpigeonforgecabinguide.com

The area is beautiful and we'll be going back.

We really enjoyed visiting this area and will definitely be back. The family loved Sunday brunch at the Apple Barn. The girls loved the outlets, and the men loved the fishing and hiking. We hope to return soon and try Dollywood. We will be sure to book a Cabinkeeper home again. Clean beds!!!

A couple of weeks ago, My husband abandoned my kids and I on one of our "getaway" days in the Smokies. It was suppose to be one of our weekends out of town, but duty calls and he had to do some work on his laptop in the cabin. Luckily, our cabin included wireless internet and although it also featured nice luxuries, I had to take advantage of the gorgeous Spring day, outside. So the kids and I headed for a hiking trail. I was actually concerned at first of whether or not I was making a good decision. My children are small, but I was still determined to get away from all the hustle and bustle. We arrived at Laurel Falls trail and it was a nice paved hike to the Falls. Aside from pushing the stoller all the way up and carrying way too much un-needed stuff in my backpack, my kids and I really enjoyed it. I even let my three year old take her shoes off and put her feet in the really cold water near the falls. She loved it and so did I. It was beautiful. It's definitely worth the small hike up to the Falls. Not only do you get to enjoy the Falls at the top, but there are some other nice mountain views on your way up. I would highly recommend this if you want to get a taste of the Smoky Mountains without having to hike lots of miles up a steep mountain.
Note: keep in mind that even though it is a paved trail, there are still some bumpy and narrow areas.
However, it's only about 1.5 miles up, making it approximately 3 miles roundtrip.
We will definitely go back and visit again. Maybe next time, my husband can carry the backpack and push the stroller!

This is a neat site. We stayed with thecabinkeeper.com last Fall in a beautiful cabin called WildFlower. The cabin was close everything!

Had a great time and it's very true what they say about how clean and well kept their properties are. They didn't have this community site up at the time. Maybe we could have found out a little more before we went and avoided eating at a few yuk places.

The best place we found was The Park Grill in Gatlinburg and Connors at Five Oaks. The steaks there are awesome and the chili was unreal (had steak in it and my husband loved that).

If you want some good pizza, we found a little place over on HWY 66 close to Lowes. The name of it is Smoky Mountain Pizza Company. Great food and priced very well.

Oh yeh, even though it was cold when we visited, we hit the ice cream shop at the old mill in Pigeon Forge. Homemade and yummy!

Ohhh well, hope this helps someone! We'll be back in the Summer!
